Police At Victim’s House
A 22 year old, University of Maryland student, was shot dead at his home today January 11, 2011 on 38th Avenue in College Park, MD. Prince George’s County Police Deputy Chief Kevin Davis would not release the name of the student until a next of kin had been identified. It was revealed that a black male, wearing a ski mask, shot the male student and ran off towards Metzerott Road. The amount of marijuana that was found in the student’s home allowed for the police to assume that he was illegally distributing the substance and that his criminal lifestyle led to the crime.
Unfortunately, this is the 11th murder in a series of 11 days in Prince George’s County, 8 of which were drug related. Davis went on to explain that this act was not random, and any information relating to the crime should be reported to the authorities.
It is unfortunate that criminal behavior has to surround the consumption and distribution of marijuana. This shows that the drug war is real and every consumer and seller of illegal marijuana must be wary of the dangers of marijuana use and the criminal behaviors that surround it.
