Congressman and Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul promoted the use of industrial hemp on Tuesday at a series of stops along his campaign trail in Bismarck, North Dakota. Paul praised hemp as an alternative crop, and criticized the ban placed on hemp by the federal government, who categorizes the plant no differently than it does marijuana.
Paul proclaimed that in a free society, there should be no reason that farmers shouldn’t be allowed to grow hemp.
Congressman Ron Paul, a self-proclaimed “constitutionalist”, is known for his advocacy of “freedom of choice” on such issues as drug policy, censorship and prostitution.
