Pittsfield has 9 dispensaries licensed by the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission (CCC). Adults 21 and older can buy with a valid government photo ID from any state, so Berkshires visitors and New Yorkers shop under the same rules as residents. 2 stores also serve registered patients, and the city charges the full 3% local cannabis tax.
Pittsfield has more licensed stores than any other community in Berkshire County, and they are spread along the main roads into town rather than packed into one district. The city is a short drive from the New York line, so many shoppers arrive from the Albany side, alongside visitors heading down from Williamstown or up from Great Barrington.
