Dispensaries in Grand Rapids

Grand Rapids has 28 dispensaries licensed by the Michigan Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA). Adults 21 and older with a valid government photo ID can shop, whether they live in Kent County or are visiting from out of state. 3 Grand Rapids listings carry a medical license for registered patients. Hours here are unusually uniform: almost every store we track opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 9 p.m.

Grand Rapids is West Michigan's largest cannabis market, and its stores follow two clear lines. One is the west side, where a tight group sits around Leonard Street, Ann Street, Alpine Avenue and Wealthy Street. The other is the 28th Street SE corridor and the streets just south of it, where big, heavily reviewed stores serve the suburbs. Downtown itself has few shops, so most people drive to one of these two areas.

Cannabis Taxes in Grand Rapids

Grand Rapids shoppers pay Michigan's 10% adult-use excise tax plus the 6% state sales tax. Michigan has no local sales taxes, and we found no separate city cannabis tax. A 24% wholesale marijuana tax has applied since January 1, 2026, but it is paid by businesses earlier in the supply chain and is reflected in shelf prices rather than added at checkout. How we build this list: Store names, addresses and license types come from the Michigan Cannabis Regulatory Agency's lists of licensed adult-use retailers, microbusinesses and medical provisioning centers. A store with both an adult-use and a medical license at one address may appear twice. Ratings, review counts and hours come from public Google Maps data. We refresh the list monthly and remove stores that close or lose their license.
