Dispensaries in Traverse City

Traverse City has 10 dispensaries licensed by the Michigan Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA). Adults 21 and older with a valid government photo ID can shop. 1 Traverse City store also holds a medical license. If you are heading out to Sleeping Bear Dunes, buy in town but leave it behind: the national lakeshore is federal land, where cannabis is illegal.

Traverse City has the most dispensaries in northern Michigan, but it came to adult-use sales carefully. The city allowed medical businesses in 2018 but kept dispensaries out of downtown, approved a small number of recreational stores in 2020, and adopted its current adult-use zoning and licensing ordinance in May 2022. Today the stores cluster on Munson Avenue, with others downtown and on Garfield Avenue.
