Dispensaries in Bronx

The Bronx has 24 dispensaries licensed by the New York Office of Cannabis Management (OCM). To buy, you must be 21 or older and show a valid government photo ID; out-of-state licenses, passports and IDNYC are all accepted. 1 Bronx location, Verilife on West Fordham Road, serves certified medical patients. Fordham Road is the borough's busiest cannabis corridor, with three licensed stores on it and two more on nearby Arthur Avenue.

The Bronx has about a quarter as many licensed stores as Manhattan or Brooklyn for a borough of well over a million people. That makes each one matter more, and it makes the difference between a licensed store and an unlicensed smoke shop worth checking before you buy. Our list holds only stores with a Bronx address on OCM's license list; Manhattan, Brooklyn and Staten Island have their own pages, and Yonkers and Mount Vernon, just over the city line, are listed separately.

Visiting a Dispensary in the Bronx: ID, Payment and Hours

  • ID: A valid government photo ID showing you are 21 or older. A college ID is not enough, so college students under 21 cannot buy.
  • Payment: Cash is safest; many stores take debit cards, few take credit.
  • Hours: Most Bronx stores open between 8 and 11 a.m. and close between 10 p.m. and midnight, though a few close at 7 or 8 p.m. Check the listing before you go.
  • Is it licensed? Look for OCM's Dispensary Verification Tool near the door and scan its QR code to reach OCM's list of licensed stores. Unlicensed shops sell products that have not passed state lab testing, and New York City's Operation Padlock to Protect has been sealing them since May 2024.

Bronx and New York Cannabis Laws: Purchase Limits, Public Use and Driving

Adults 21 and older may carry up to 3 ounces of cannabis and 24 grams of concentrated cannabis, edibles and oils included, and stores use those figures as a daily purchase limit. See our New York marijuana laws guide for possession, home grow and penalty details.

  • Parks, beaches and stadiums: New York City bans cannabis smoking and vaping in parks, on beaches and boardwalks, in public gardens and inside and on the grounds of sports stadiums. That covers Van Cortlandt and Pelham Bay parks, Orchard Beach and Yankee Stadium.
  • Public housing: NYCHA developments ban smoking and vaping cannabis on their property, and public housing under a federal program follows federal law, which bans cannabis possession.
  • Driving: Using cannabis in a car, even parked or as a passenger, is illegal, and so is driving while impaired.
