Dispensaries in Kentucky

Kentucky has 25 medical cannabis dispensaries open in 25 cities and towns, all licensed by the state's Office of Medical Cannabis. Kentucky is a medical-only state. Only patients with a Kentucky medical cannabis registry card, their registered caregivers and qualifying visiting patients can buy. A patient may buy no more than a 30-day supply in any 25-day period, and smoking cannabis is not allowed, even for patients.

Kentucky's program took effect January 1, 2025, and stores are still opening. Below is every open dispensary in our directory, sorted into the 11 licensing regions the state uses, with the rules that apply at the counter. If you do not have a card yet, start with our guide to Kentucky marijuana laws. For other states, see our national dispensary directory.

Kentucky Dispensaries at a Glance

Kentucky is still building its market. The state's Find a Dispensary list, as we downloaded it on October 19, 2026, holds 48 licensed dispensary locations. Of those, 25 are marked operational and 23 are licensed but not open yet. Our directory lists the 25 open stores. The governor's office counted 26 operating dispensaries on October 16, 2026, one more than the state list showed, so a new store may open before it appears here.

State rules spread licenses across 11 regions so that rural counties are not left out. Under 915 KAR 1:020, each region gets at least four dispensary licenses. The two regions with Lexington and Louisville get at least six, and two of those six must be in Fayette or Jefferson County. Outside those two counties, a county may have only one dispensary. A store cannot move to another region.

Kentucky Dispensaries by Region

The region numbers, names and counties below come from 915 KAR 1:020. The open count for each region comes from the state's list.

Region 1: Bluegrass (5 open stores)

Central Kentucky has the most open stores. Lexington has Speakeasy Dispensary Lexington, on Alysheba Way. Nearby, Georgetown has Blue Sage Georgetown on Paris Pike, Nicholasville has Blue Sage Nicholasville and Richmond has Green Releaf Richmond. In the state capital, Frankfort has NuEra Frankfort. The region holds six licenses, so one more store is licensed here but not open.

Region 2: Kentuckiana (1 open store)

This region holds six licenses but has one open store. Louisville has Kentucky Alternative Care, on Bardstown Road. Louisville sits on the Ohio River across from Indiana, which has its own rules, covered in our Indiana marijuana law guide. Patients in Shelby, Oldham, Bullitt and the other counties of this region should call before a long drive.

Region 3: Northeast (1 open store)

Ashland has Speakeasy Dispensary Ashland, on Winchester Avenue. Ashland sits on the Ohio River near the point where Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia meet. Our Ohio dispensary directory and West Virginia dispensary directory list stores there, but Kentucky's rules on out-of-state purchases still apply to you. See the section on travel below.

Region 4: South Central (1 open store)

Bowling Green has Speakeasy Dispensary Bowling Green, on Scottsville Road. It is the only open store in a region of four licenses. Tennessee lies just south. See our Tennessee marijuana law guide for the rules there.

Region 5: Cumberland (4 open stores)

All four licenses in this region are open. London has High Profile London, and Corbin has Speakeasy Dispensary Corbin on Cumberland Falls Highway. Ferguson, in Pulaski County, has Green Releaf Ferguson. Stanford has Speakeasy Dispensary Stanford.

Region 6: Mountain (1 open store)

Prestonsburg has Sunnyside Prestonsburg, at Glynview Plaza. It opened on October 12, 2026 as the first store in the Mountain region, according to the governor's office. With that opening, every region had a store. Pike County, at the region's eastern edge, borders West Virginia and Virginia. Our Virginia dispensary directory lists the stores there.

Region 7: Pennyrile (3 open stores)

Oak Grove has Blue Sage Oak Grove, on Walter Garrett Lane near the Tennessee line. Princeton has Speakeasy Dispensary Princeton on East Main Street, and Nortonville has Speakeasy Dispensary Nortonville. Speakeasy runs two of the three stores in this region.

Region 8: West Kentucky (3 open stores)

Paducah has NatureMed Paducah and Murray has NatureMed Murray. Mayfield has Green Roots Dispensary, on Paris Road. Paducah faces Illinois across the Ohio River, and the region's western counties face Missouri across the Mississippi. Our Illinois and Missouri directories cover those states.

Region 9: Lincoln Trail (2 open stores)

Elizabethtown has a store on North Mulberry Street that the state lists under its company name, Barrio Capital Partners. Lebanon has Blue Sage Lebanon, on West Main Street.

Region 10: Northern Kentucky (3 open stores)

Across the Ohio River from Cincinnati, Erlanger has NatureMed Erlanger, Florence has Bluegrass Cannacare on Burlington Pike and Wilder has C3 Kentucky, which the state also lists under its company name. A short drive does not make an Ohio purchase legal in Kentucky.

Region 11: Green River (1 open store)

Beaver Dam has The Post Dispensary, on North Main Street. Beaver Dam is in Ohio County, Kentucky. Henderson and Owensboro, the region's larger cities, had no open store on the state list.

Names on the Sign

Our 25 Kentucky stores trade under 13 names. Speakeasy Dispensary is the most common, with seven stores in five regions, from Ashland in the east to Princeton in the west. Blue Sage has four and NatureMed has three. Green Releaf has two, in Richmond and Ferguson. Every other name appears on one store. The state list often shows a company name instead of the name on the sign, so a store may look different on the state's website.

Who Can Buy at a Kentucky Dispensary

  • Registered patients: You need a Kentucky medical cannabis registry card from the Office of Medical Cannabis. Patients 18 and older buy for themselves.
  • Getting a card: A registered practitioner must examine you in person and certify a qualifying condition. You then apply online, upload a notarized signature page and pay a $25 application fee.
  • Qualifying conditions: KRS 218B.010 lists any type of cancer, chronic severe or debilitating pain, epilepsy or other intractable seizure disorders, multiple sclerosis or muscle spasms or spasticity, chronic nausea or cyclical vomiting syndrome resistant to other treatment, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Emergency regulation 915 KAR 2:050E, filed June 2, 2026, names 15 more conditions that can qualify through those symptoms, such as Parkinson's disease, Crohn's disease and glaucoma. Legislative leaders objected to it, so watch its status.
  • Caregivers and minors: Caregivers must be Kentucky residents, 21 or older, and may help up to three patients. Patients under 18 cannot buy for themselves. A parent or guardian must serve as their caregiver.
  • Visiting patients: A visitor 21 or older with a valid out-of-state medical card and records of a qualifying condition may buy no more than a 10-day supply in any 8-day period. Visitors may also apply for a Kentucky visiting patient card.
  • No adult-use sales: Recreational marijuana is illegal in Kentucky. Possession without a card is a Class B misdemeanor, with up to 45 days in jail and a $250 fine.

At the Counter: Limits, Products and Taxes

Kentucky measures limits in days of supply, set in KRS 218B.025. The Office of Medical Cannabis turns those days into amounts in its transportation guide.

A practitioner may raise or lower these amounts in your certification. You may keep a 30-day supply at home and carry a 10-day supply. This page is general information, not medical or legal advice.

Using Medical Cannabis Legally in Kentucky

  • No smoking: Flower is sold, but smoking it is not legal. Vaping in public places or on public transportation is also prohibited.
  • Keep it packaged: Outside your home, cannabis must stay in its original dispensary container, and you must carry your registry card.
  • Driving: Driving while impaired is a DUI. While you drive, cannabis must be stored out of reach, so that it takes at least two steps to get to it.
  • No home grow: Patients may not grow cannabis. Growing fewer than 5 plants is a Class A misdemeanor for a first offense.
  • Buying in other states: Kentucky borders seven states, and our directory covers several of them. Since July 1, 2026, cardholders who buy medical cannabis in another state may face enforcement, after Executive Order 2026-361 ended the 2022 pardon, the Office of Medical Cannabis says. The state's transportation guide also lists traveling over state lines with medical cannabis as prohibited. See our federal marijuana law guide.

Before You Visit a Kentucky Dispensary

  • Bring your card: Carry your registry card and a photo ID.
  • Call first: Most regions have only a few open stores, and some have one. A closed door can mean a long drive.
  • Find the number: The state list has no phone numbers, and only three of our listings have one so far. Check the store's own website for hours and stock.
  • Track your limit: Count every purchase in the last 25 days, even if you split it between stores.

How we build this directory: Store addresses, counties and open status come from the Office of Medical Cannabis Find a Dispensary list, which we downloaded on October 19, 2026. It shows 48 licensed locations and marks 25 as operational. We list only the open ones. We name each store by the brand and city the state lists. For three stores the state shows only a company name, so we used the name on the store's own website. Regions come from each store's county and the county lists in 915 KAR 1:020. We recheck the list and add stores as they open. For the rules in every state, see our state-by-state cannabis law guides.
