Oklahoma City has 238 dispensaries licensed by the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA), more than any other city in the state. Every one of them is a medical dispensary: you need an OMMA patient or caregiver license, or a 30-day out-of-state temporary license, plus a government-issued photo ID, and being 21 is not enough. Most of the city pays 8.625% sales tax on top of Oklahoma's 7% medical marijuana excise tax.
Oklahoma City's market grew up in the boom after State Question 788 and is still mostly independent single shops, not chains. A long arterial like May Avenue can hold a dozen stores, so this page groups the city by corridor, then covers what to bring, how much you can buy and the taxes.

Visiting a Dispensary in Oklahoma City: ID, Payment and Hours
Staff check your patient license and a valid government-issued photo ID. Under OMMA's January 2026 guidance, stores accept a physical OMMA card, a photo of it, the OMMA approval email or MedPortal approval, and must confirm the license is active in OMMA Verify, so a newly approved patient can shop the same day. Minor patients need their authorized parent or guardian with them.
Plan on cash or debit, and expect flower and pre-rolls to come pre-packaged. Hours are set store by store, so check the listing before a late trip. We could not confirm that Oklahoma allows dispensary home delivery; ask the store.
Oklahoma City and Oklahoma Cannabis Laws: Purchase Limits, Public Use and Driving
Recreational marijuana is not legal here; voters rejected State Question 820 on March 7, 2023. Under OMMA rules a patient can buy up to 3 ounces of marijuana, 1 ounce of concentrate and 72 ounces of edibles in one transaction, and state law allows 3 ounces on your person and 8 ounces at home.
Smoking or vaping marijuana is banned wherever tobacco smoking is banned under the state's public places law, and property owners can ban it on their premises. Driving with any amount of marijuana or its metabolites in your system is a DUI under Title 47, Section 11-902, and a patient license is no defense. Tinker Air Force Base is federal property, where a state license means nothing, and the TSA refers cannabis found at Will Rogers World Airport to police. Our Oklahoma marijuana law guide has the penalties.
Cannabis Taxes in Oklahoma City
Every sale carries Oklahoma's 7% medical marijuana excise tax plus sales tax. The City of Oklahoma City says the combined sales tax rate in most of the city is 8.625%: 4.5% to the state and 4.125% to the city. Stores in the Cleveland and Canadian county parts of the city collect a slightly higher rate because of county sales tax. There is no separate city cannabis tax, and 100% disabled veterans are exempt from sales tax but not the excise. Compare out-the-door prices with our cannabis prices by state guide.
