Dispensaries in Cincinnati

Cincinnati has 24 dispensaries licensed by the Ohio Division of Cannabis Control. Shoppers must be 21 or older and show a valid government-issued photo ID, and a Kentucky or Indiana license works as well as an Ohio one. All 24 stores also fill orders for registered medical patients. Two of the stores with Cincinnati mailing addresses are actually across the county line in Clermont County, on the city's eastern edge.

Cincinnati sits on the Ohio River with Kentucky directly across the water, and Kentucky has not legalized adult-use cannabis. That makes the Queen City the legal shopping stop for a large tri-state area, and its review numbers show it: one store has about 3,500 public Google reviews and another has about 2,700. Three Nectar locations open at 7 a.m., earlier than most Ohio dispensaries.

Visiting a Dispensary in Cincinnati: ID, Payment and Hours

Out-of-state shoppers are common here, and any valid government photo ID with your birth date gets you in. Expect a quick ID scan at the door and a separate sales floor or counter. Cash is the safe bet, many stores accept debit, and card policies differ, so ask first. Hours run long: most Cincinnati stores are open by 9 a.m., and eight stay open past 10 p.m. If you are new to it, read our Cannabis 101 primer and browse our strain guides before you order.

Cincinnati and Ohio Cannabis Laws: Purchase Limits, Public Use and Driving

The Division of Cannabis Control caps adult-use sales at 2.5 ounces of flower and 15,000 milligrams of total THC in other products per person per day, and stores may set lower limits. Adults may keep up to 2.5 ounces of plant material and 15 grams of extract at once.

The river matters more here than anywhere else in Ohio. Taking cannabis across the bridges into Covington or Newport is crossing a state line, which is illegal, and Kentucky has not legalized adult-use cannabis. The same goes for driving west into Indiana. Inside Ohio, consumption is legal only on private property used mainly as a home or farm, so parks, the riverfront and stadium tailgates are out. Keep opened product in the trunk while driving, and remember that impaired driving is charged as an OVI. Our Ohio marijuana laws guide covers penalties in detail.

Cannabis Taxes in Cincinnati

Ohio charges a 10% excise tax on every adult-use purchase, on top of regular sales tax, and medical sales pay sales tax only. State law does not let Cincinnati, Hamilton County or Clermont County add a separate cannabis tax. The sales tax rate depends on the county, so a store in Clermont County may ring up a little differently from one in Hamilton County; the receipt shows each tax. Our 2026 price guide compares Ohio with other states.

Medical Marijuana in Cincinnati

A patient registration requires a recommendation from a physician certified by the State Medical Board and a qualifying condition such as chronic pain, PTSD or epilepsy. Registered patients avoid the 10% excise, can buy up to 10 ounces of plant material a day and may possess a 90-day supply. They may vape or use edibles but not smoke.
