Louisiana has 29 medical marijuana pharmacies in 26 cities and towns, run by 10 permit holders across the state's 9 regions and regulated by the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH). Louisiana is a medical-only state. There are no recreational stores, and you can buy only with a recommendation from an authorized Louisiana clinician. Smokable flower is legal for patients, up to 2.5 ounces (71 grams) every 14 days.
Below you will find every pharmacy on the LDH list, region by region, who holds each permit and the rules at the counter. For the full law, read our guide to Louisiana marijuana laws, or start at the national dispensary directory to compare other states.
How Louisiana's Pharmacy Map Works
Louisiana's market is built on a fixed map. Under La. R.S. 40:1046, the state may grant no more than ten retail permits. The permits are spread across regions that follow the LDH's own administrative regions as they stood on August 1, 2022, and every region must have at least one retailer.
Growth comes through satellites. When a region reaches 3,500 active patients, its permit holder may open one satellite location, and at 7,000 patients a second. No permit holder may open more than two satellites in a region, and the law caps the total at 30 locations, satellites included. The LDH lists base permits (maximum 10) and satellite locations (maximum 20) in separate tables, and it says no new permits may be issued for non-satellite locations at this time.
Today the LDH list has 10 base pharmacies and 19 satellites, 29 locations in all. Nine of the 10 permit holders run two satellites each. Region 3 has one satellite, so the state's network sits one location short of the 30-location cap.
| Region | Permit holder | Pharmacies | Parishes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Region 1 | Crescent City Therapeutics and H & W Acquisition Company | 6 | Jefferson and Orleans |
| Region 2 | Capitol Wellness Solutions | 3 | Ascension and East Baton Rouge |
| Region 3 | Green Leaf Dispensary | 2 | St. Mary and Terrebonne |
| Region 4 | The Apothecary Shoppe | 3 | Iberia, Lafayette and St. Landry |
| Region 5 | Medicis | 3 | Calcasieu and Jefferson Davis |
| Region 6 | The Medicine Cabinet Pharmacy | 3 | Avoyelles, Rapides and Vernon |
| Region 7 | Hope Pharmacy | 3 | Bossier, Caddo and Natchitoches |
| Region 8 | Delta Medmar | 3 | Lincoln and Ouachita |
| Region 9 | Willow Pharmacy | 3 | St. Tammany and Tangipahoa |
The LDH took over the retail side from the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy on January 1, 2025, under Act 693 of 2024, and its rules now call these stores retailers. They are still known as marijuana pharmacies, and each permit holder must appoint a Louisiana-licensed pharmacist responsible for the base location and its satellites.

Louisiana Pharmacies by Region
Region 1: New Orleans Area (6 pharmacies)
Region 1 is the only region with two base permits, so it has two competing companies. H & W Acquisition Company trades as H&W Drug Store. Its base pharmacy, H&W Drug Store New Orleans, is on Tchoupitoulas Boulevard. Its satellites are H&W Drug Store Metairie on Veterans Memorial Boulevard in Metairie and H&W Drug Store Harvey on Manhattan Boulevard in Harvey, on the West Bank. Crescent City Therapeutics has its base, Crescent City Therapeutics Kenner, on West Airline Highway in Kenner. Its two satellites are in New Orleans: Crescent City Therapeutics Carrollton Avenue on South Carrollton Avenue and Crescent City Therapeutics Bourbon Street in the French Quarter. The region's stores split evenly, 3 in Orleans Parish and 3 in Jefferson Parish.
Region 2: Baton Rouge Area (3 pharmacies)
Capitol Wellness Solutions holds the Region 2 permit. Both of its Baton Rouge stores are in East Baton Rouge Parish: the base, Capitol Wellness Solutions Picardy Avenue, and a satellite, Capitol Wellness Solutions O'Neal Lane. The second satellite, Capitol Wellness Solutions Prairieville, is on Airline Highway in Prairieville, in Ascension Parish.
Region 3: Morgan City and Houma (2 pharmacies)
Green Leaf Dispensary holds the Region 3 permit. Its base, Green Leaf Dispensary Morgan City, is on Arlington Street in Morgan City, St. Mary Parish. Its only satellite, Green Leaf Dispensary Houma, is on West Park Avenue in Houma, Terrebonne Parish. This is the only region with a single satellite.
Region 4: Acadiana (3 pharmacies)
The Apothecary Shoppe holds the Region 4 permit. Its base, The Apothecary Shoppe Lafayette, is on Ambassador Caffery Parkway in Lafayette. The satellites are The Apothecary Shoppe Opelousas, on the I-49 South Service Road in Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, and The Apothecary Shoppe New Iberia, on Center Street in New Iberia, Iberia Parish. All 3 list the same main phone number, so say which location you mean when you call.
Region 5: Lake Charles and Southwest Louisiana (3 pharmacies)
Medicis holds the Region 5 permit. Its base, Medicis Lake Charles, is on L'Auberge Boulevard in Lake Charles. Medicis Sulphur, on South Cities Service Highway in Sulphur, is the westernmost pharmacy in the region, and Medicis Jennings is on Evangeline Road in Jennings, Jefferson Davis Parish. Lake Charles and Sulphur are both in Calcasieu Parish. Texas is next door, but cannabis may not cross the state line. See our Texas marijuana law guide.
Region 6: Central Louisiana (3 pharmacies)
The Medicine Cabinet Pharmacy holds the Region 6 permit. Its base, The Medicine Cabinet Pharmacy Pineville, is on Pinecrest Drive in Pineville, Rapides Parish. The satellites are The Medicine Cabinet Pharmacy Mansura, on Cocoville Road in Mansura, Avoyelles Parish, and The Medicine Cabinet Pharmacy Leesville, on West Harriet Street in Leesville, Vernon Parish.
Region 7: Shreveport, Bossier City and Northwest Louisiana (3 pharmacies)
Hope Pharmacy holds the Region 7 permit. Its base, Hope Pharmacy Bossier City, is on East Texas Street in Bossier City. Across the Red River, Hope Pharmacy Shreveport is on Mansfield Road in Shreveport, Caddo Parish. The second satellite, Hope Pharmacy Natchitoches, is on University Parkway in Natchitoches.
Region 8: Monroe and Northeast Louisiana (3 pharmacies)
Delta Medmar holds the Region 8 permit. Its base, Delta Medmar Monroe, is on McKeen Place in Monroe. Delta Medmar West Monroe is across the Ouachita River in West Monroe, so 2 of the region's pharmacies are in Ouachita Parish. Delta Medmar Ruston is on Celebrity Drive in Ruston, Lincoln Parish. Arkansas is to the north. Our Arkansas marijuana law guide explains that state's rules.
Region 9: Northshore (3 pharmacies)
Willow Pharmacy holds the Region 9 permit. Its base, Willow Pharmacy Covington, is on the Highway 190 Service Road in Covington. Willow Pharmacy Slidell is on the East I-10 Service Road in Slidell, which puts 2 of the region's stores in St. Tammany Parish. Willow Pharmacy Hammond, on Southwest Railroad Avenue in Hammond, is in Tangipahoa Parish. Slidell sits near the Mississippi line. Our Mississippi dispensary directory covers the stores on that side, but nothing bought in one state may be carried into the other.
Who Holds Louisiana's Pharmacy Permits
Each of the 10 permit holders runs its base pharmacy and all of its satellites, and no company holds a permit in more than one region. Outside Region 1, every region has a single company, so there is no competing store across town.
- Names on the sign: Our listings use the permit holder's name. Some pharmacies trade under a consumer brand, so the sign may show a different name. Check the address or the store's website before you go.
- Where the products come from: Retailers may sell only products made by firms licensed in Louisiana. The LDH lists two manufacturers, Ilera Holistic Healthcare and Good Day Farm Louisiana, so every pharmacy draws from the same two producers.
- A pharmacist on call: The designated pharmacist must be reachable by phone during open hours, and patients can ask for a consultation by phone or video.
Who Can Buy at a Louisiana Marijuana Pharmacy
- A recommendation, not a state card: La. R.S. 40:1046 does not create a state patient card. What a pharmacy needs is a valid recommendation from an authorized clinician. The LDH says retailers may serve any patient with a valid recommendation.
- Who can recommend: Physicians in good standing with the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners, nurse practitioners with prescriptive authority from the Louisiana State Board of Nursing, and medical psychologists licensed by the Board of Medical Examiners. The law allows recommendations by telehealth.
- Finding a clinician: No state agency keeps a list of clinicians who recommend marijuana, according to the LDH medical marijuana page.
- Conditions: The statute lists specific conditions and adds any other condition the clinician considers debilitating for that patient.
- Expiration: Under LDH rules, a recommendation must carry an expiration date no more than 12 months after it is issued.
- Visitors: Only clinicians licensed in Louisiana are authorized to recommend, so a medical card from another state is not enough on its own.

Using Medical Marijuana Legally in Louisiana
- No home grow: Products must come from the licensed manufacturers through permitted retailers. Growing your own is not authorized.
- Driving: Under La. R.S. 14:98, operating a vehicle, boat or aircraft while impaired by any drug is a crime.
- Outside the program: Possessing 14 grams or less without a recommendation carries a fine of up to $100, enforced by summons. Our Louisiana law guide has the penalties for larger amounts.
- Hemp shops: Since January 1, 2025, hemp flower and inhalable hemp products, including vapes, may not be sold in Louisiana.
- Travel: Taking marijuana across a state line or onto a plane is illegal under federal law, even when you bought it legally in Louisiana. See our federal marijuana law guide.
Before You Visit a Louisiana Marijuana Pharmacy
- Plan the drive: Most regions have three locations or fewer, so call before a long trip.
- Track your 14 days: Every flower purchase counts toward the 71-gram limit, even if you use more than one location.

Our directory lists 29 medical marijuana pharmacies in 26 cities and towns: 10 base locations and 19 satellites. New Orleans has the most, with 3.
Can you buy weed in Louisiana without a medical recommendation?
No. Louisiana is medical-only. Every permitted pharmacy needs a valid recommendation from an authorized Louisiana clinician before it can sell to you.
Do you need a medical card in Louisiana?
Louisiana law does not set up a state patient card. The key document is a recommendation from an authorized clinician, and it expires within 12 months.
Can you buy smokable flower in Louisiana?
Yes, with a recommendation. A pharmacy may sell up to 2.5 ounces (71 grams) of flower to a patient every 14 days.
Can tourists buy at Louisiana marijuana pharmacies?
Not with an out-of-state card alone. Only Louisiana-licensed clinicians are authorized to recommend marijuana under state law.

The Louisiana Department of Health. It took over retail permits from the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy on January 1, 2025.
Do Louisiana marijuana pharmacies deliver?
Each permit holder must offer delivery to every zip code in its region at least once a month, and no retailer may deliver outside Louisiana. Ask your pharmacy for its schedule.
Do Louisiana listings show license numbers?
Not in our listings. The LDH's list of retailers gives each permit holder's region, address and phone number but no permit number, so we list each store by name and address.
Does your dispensary need more visibility? Louisiana patients use The Weed Street Journal to compare stores, read strain guides and check the law before they buy. Advertise with us · Spotted a wrong address, phone number or hours? Tell us and we will fix it free.
How we build this directory: Permit holders, regions, addresses and phone numbers come from the Louisiana Department of Health's medical marijuana page, which lists base permits and satellite locations. We last pulled it in October 2026. That list does not include permit numbers, so our Louisiana listings do not show them. We name each store after its permit holder plus its city or street. We check each store against map data, which sometimes corrects an address, and refresh the list as locations open, so our count can differ slightly from the state's. For the rules in every state, see our state-by-state cannabis law guides.
