Cloud 9 is a hybrid cannabis strain tied to Kiwiseeds, with Leafly crediting a collaboration with Dampkring Classics to stabilize NYC Diesel using Milky Way genetics. Descriptions of its effects conflict, from talkative and energizing to relaxing and couch-locking. It is easy to confuse with Dinafem’s Cloud #9, a different strain.

Where Cloud 9 Comes From
Leafly says Cloud 9 began as a Kiwiseeds and Dampkring Classics collaboration to stabilize NYC Diesel, a strain that had circulated as a clone, by adding Milky Way, which it describes as an indica hybrid. It notes the best phenotypes flower longer than the original but have strong flavor and potency.
SeedFinder tells a different story: it lists the Kiwiseeds Cloud 9 (also called Milkyway) as an unknown indica crossed with Northern Lights x Hash Plant. Sources therefore disagree on the genetics. Leafly also warns not to confuse it with Dinafem’s Cloud #9.
Cloud 9 Effects: What It Feels Like
Leafly users (about 60 reports) describe Cloud 9 as talkative, energizing and euphoric. SeedFinder users, looking at the Kiwiseeds listing, mostly report a relaxing, heavy, couch-locking effect, while the breeder calls the high strong and uplifting.
That gap probably reflects the genetic confusion and different cuts under one name. If you try it, go slowly and see which side of the strain you get.
Cloud 9 Terpenes, Aroma and Flavor
Leafly lists rose, floral and blueberry as the flavors. A SeedFinder commenter described a strong, lingering over-ripe fruit smell. No terpene data was available.
Side Effects and How to Use Cloud 9
Leafly readers report dry eyes, dry mouth and some paranoia. Start with a small dose, especially if you are prone to anxiety.
With Cloud 9, as with any strain, a smaller dose usually avoids anxiety or grogginess. Our cannabis safety guide covers what to do if you take too much.
