Miami has 20 dispensaries licensed by the Florida Office of Medical Marijuana Use (OMMU). Despite the city's reputation, none of them sells recreational cannabis. Every purchase requires a Florida Medical Marijuana Use Registry ID card, held by the patient or a registered caregiver, so the visitors who fill South Beach hotels and cruise terminals cannot buy here. Almost half the stores are in the southwest suburbs, and five sit on a single stretch of Bird Road.
The Miami address is misleading in a useful way. Many of these stores sit outside the City of Miami limits, in suburbs such as Kendall that share the Miami mailing name. Downtown and Brickell have none on our list. If you live in the urban core, the closest stores are on NW 26th Street or Biscayne Boulevard, or you can use delivery.

Visiting a Dispensary in Miami: Card, ID, Payment and Hours
Patients need two things at the counter: the Florida registry ID card and a photo ID. The store checks the registry each time and can sell only the products and quantities on your physician's certification. Newly approved patients may use the OMMU approval email until the card arrives. Expect to pay with cash or debit. State law bars dispensing from a store between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m., so there are no late-night Miami dispensaries, but treatment centers may deliver around the clock.
Miami and Florida Cannabis Laws: Purchase Limits, Public Use and Driving
Each sale is capped by your certification: a 70-day supply per 70 days at most, and smokable flower limited to 2.5 ounces per 35 days unless the OMMU allows more. Carry no more than a 70-day supply or 4 ounces of flower, sealed in the original packaging. Use in a vehicle, on a boat or in any public place falls outside the medical law, and using marijuana in public view is a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail. Our Florida marijuana laws guide has the rest.
- Cruises: Major lines sailing from PortMiami, including Carnival and Royal Caribbean, prohibit marijuana on board, medical use included. Leave it at home.
- Beaches and parks: Public places, so not for patient use.
- National parks: Everglades and Biscayne national parks are federal land, where the National Park Service bans marijuana even with a state card.
- Driving: Impaired driving is DUI; there is no THC blood limit and no medical defense.
Cannabis Taxes in Miami
Florida's sales tax statute exempts medical marijuana and delivery devices, so Miami patients pay no sales tax at the register, and we found no local cannabis tax in Miami-Dade. Prices are set company by company. Every treatment center must publish 30, 50 and 70-day supply prices online, which is the quickest way to compare; our 2026 prices by state page has the bigger picture.
Medical Marijuana in Miami
Miami residents qualify through a qualified Florida physician, who examines them in person and enters the certification, then apply to the OMMU for a $75 card renewed yearly. Residency is shown with a Florida driver license or ID card. Part-year residents who spend at least 31 consecutive days a year here, keep a Florida home and meet the other rules in section 381.986(5)(b) can apply as seasonal residents. A passport and a hotel reservation do not count. Explore strains and Cannabis 101 before your first visit.
