Dispensaries in Billings

Billings has 70 dispensaries licensed by the Montana Department of Revenue. Adults 21 and older with a valid photo ID from any state can buy, so travelers on Interstate 90 shop on the same terms as locals. There is a catch that no other big Montana city has: Billings voters banned adult-use dispensaries inside city limits in November 2021, and the city still allows no adult-use sales there, so most stores with a Billings mailing address sit just outside the city line in Yellowstone County. Medical cardholders can also shop at the small number of medical dispensaries the city allows.

That city line explains the map. Montana's largest city has the most stores in the state, 70 in our directory, yet many cluster in Lockwood across the Yellowstone River and along the Interstate 90 frontage roads on the west end rather than downtown.

Adults may buy and possess up to 1 ounce, with no more than 8 grams of concentrate and 800 milligrams of THC in edibles. Smoking in a public place carries a civil fine of up to $50, so Riverfront Park, the Rimrocks trails and downtown sidewalks are off limits; private property with the owner's permission is fine. Keep products in the trunk while driving. Driving with 5 ng/mL or more of THC in the blood counts as DUI.

Heading south? Wyoming is a short drive south and bans marijuana, and the Department of Revenue says carrying cannabis across any state line is prohibited. The full rules are in our Montana marijuana laws guide, and you can compare neighbors in every state's cannabis laws.

Montana has no general sales tax. See how that compares in our 2026 cannabis price guide.

How we build this list: Store names and towns come from the Montana Department of Revenue's list of licensed dispensary locations. Ratings, review counts and hours come from public Google Maps data, and permanently or temporarily closed stores are left out of the text. Where we could not confirm a street address, the listing shows the name only. We refresh the list monthly.
