Lorain and Ohio Cannabis Laws: Purchase Limits, Public Use and Driving
Lorain stores may sell an adult-use customer 2.5 ounces of flower per day, plus other products containing up to 15,000 milligrams of total THC. Your total possession limit is 2.5 ounces of plant material and 15 grams of extract.
Beaches, piers and lakefront parks are public places, so smoking or vaping there is a minor misdemeanor. Ohio permits it only on private property used mainly as a home or farm, and a landlord's lease can still forbid it. In a car, transport opened product in the trunk or behind the last upright seat, and remember that driving while impaired is charged as an OVI. Learn more in our Ohio marijuana laws guide.
Cannabis Taxes in Lorain
Ohio's 10% excise applies to every adult-use sale in Lorain, along with Lorain County sales tax. State law prevents the city from adding a cannabis tax. Patients skip the excise. See the 2026 cannabis price guide for comparisons.
Medical Marijuana in Lorain
Lorain patients register with a recommendation from a physician certified by the State Medical Board. Registration lasts a year, and patients may name up to two caregivers to shop for them. Medical buyers avoid the excise and have higher daily limits.
