Usually not. Most Portland hotels ban smoking and vaping of any kind, including cannabis, and Oregon law bars dispensaries from delivering to hotels and motels. Possessing a legal amount in your room is lawful, and edibles or tinctures are the easiest option where your hotel’s rules allow them. Smoking in a non-smoking room can bring a cleaning fee.

What Portland Hotels Allow

Hotels are private businesses and set their own rules. Most Portland hotels are entirely non-smoking, and their policies usually cover cannabis and vaping as well as tobacco. Some short-term rentals allow outdoor smoking on a private patio or balcony — ask the host first. Smoking on a hotel’s street-facing sidewalk or in its car park is public use, which is a Class B violation under ORS 475C.377.

No Delivery to Hotels

Under OAR 845-025-2880, Oregon dispensaries can deliver only to a residence such as a house or apartment. Hotels, motels, dormitories and bed and breakfasts are excluded, so you will need to visit a store in person. Many downtown hotels are within a few blocks of Mint Cannabis Downtown, Broadway Cannabis Market Downtown or Broadway Pearl.

Weed in Portland Hotels: FAQ

Can you smoke weed in Portland hotels?

Usually not. Most Portland hotels are non-smoking and ban cannabis and vaping as well as tobacco. Check your hotel's policy; smoking in a non-smoking room can bring a cleaning fee.

Can I have weed in my hotel room in Portland?

Possessing a legal amount — up to 2 ounces of flower in public, 8 ounces in total — is lawful for adults 21 and over. Whether you can use it there depends on the hotel's rules.

Can a dispensary deliver to my Portland hotel?

No. Oregon allows cannabis delivery only to a residence. Hotels, motels, dormitories and bed and breakfasts are excluded under OAR 845-025-2880.

Are there 420-friendly hotels in Portland?

Some lodgings market themselves as cannabis-friendly, usually allowing use on a private outdoor space. Confirm the policy directly with the property before booking; Oregon has no licensed consumption venues.

Can you eat edibles in a Portland hotel?

Edibles produce no smoke, so they don't break smoking rules, but hotels can set their own policies on cannabis. They are the most discreet option where allowed.
