Visiting a Dispensary in Ponce: Card, ID, Payment and Hours
Bring your Board patient ID card and a photo ID. Visitors flying into Mercedita International Airport (PSE), about three nautical miles east of downtown, need a home medical card that is current and can be checked in the issuing jurisdiction's database; Puerto Rico honors it for up to 30 days. No one under 21 may enter. We have not verified hours for Ponce stores, so call ahead and bring cash. Stores may sell only cannabis grown or produced in Puerto Rico.
Ponce and Puerto Rico Cannabis Laws: Purchase Limits, Public Use and Driving
No dispensary may sell more than one month's supply for a patient, within limits the Board sets. Patients may use cannabis only in private homes and private places where the owner agrees, so the downtown plaza, parks and beaches are off limits. Act 42 prohibits smoking cannabis; vaporizing is allowed. It is illegal to drive under the effects of marijuana or medical cannabis, a point worth remembering on the PR-52 drive to San Juan.
