Olympia has 10 cannabis stores: shops licensed by the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (WSLCB) and Thunder Cannabis, a tribal store run by the Chehalis Tribe. You can buy at 21 with a valid photo ID from any state. The legal selling window runs from 8 a.m. to midnight, and 8 Olympia stores are medically endorsed.

The rules every Washington dispensary follows are written a few blocks from Olympia's stores, in the Legislative Building on the Capitol campus. This page lists every store with an Olympia address, explains what lawmakers have and haven't changed lately, and covers the Capitol campus, The Evergreen State College and the city's tribal store. Lacey and Tumwater have their own pages.

From the Capitol: What Lawmakers Have and Haven't Changed
Bills to change Washington's cannabis rules are filed in Olympia regularly, and shoppers often assume the well-publicized ones passed. As of October 2026, these have not become law:
- Home grow for adults: a 2026 bill (SB 6204) cleared committee but did not pass, so recreational users still can't grow cannabis at home. Registered medical patients have limited home-grow rights.
- Lounges and consumption events: HB 1932 did not pass in 2026, so Washington still has no licensed place to use cannabis outside a private residence.
- Tax tiers by THC level: HB 2075, introduced in 2025, proposed higher excise tiers for high-THC products. It has not passed, and the flat 37% excise tax still applies.
What stays the same: per-visit limits of 1 ounce of flower, 7 grams of concentrate, 16 ounces of edibles or 72 ounces of drinks; no delivery; and a 5-nanogram THC blood limit for drivers. Our guide to Washington marijuana laws tracks the full rulebook.
The Capitol Campus, Evergreen and Thunder Cannabis
Capitol campus. The lawns and steps around the Legislative Building are public property, so using cannabis there is illegal public use, just as it is in Heritage Park, at Percival Landing or anywhere else open to the public. The fine is up to $50 plus assessments. Our guide to dispensaries near the Capitol lists the closest stores.
The Evergreen State College. Evergreen is on the Westside, the same side of town as Green Lady Westside and 420 West. Students must be 21 to buy, unless they are 18 to 20 and registered as medical patients shopping at an endorsed store, and college policy bars cannabis on campus.
Thunder Cannabis. The Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis Reservation run Thunder Cannabis under a cannabis compact with the state. It sells to adults 21 and older with valid ID and shows a Tribal-owned badge in our list. See our guide to tribal dispensaries in Olympia.
Shopping Basics in Olympia: ID, Payment, Taxes
Bring an unexpired government photo ID, such as a driver's license or state ID from any state, a passport or a military ID. Most Olympia stores take cash and debit and keep an ATM inside; credit cards are rarely accepted because card networks prohibit cannabis sales. Each store sets its own hours within the 8 a.m. to midnight window.
The 37% excise tax is usually already in the shelf price, and state and local sales tax is added at checkout, so the final total is the fair comparison. Olympia prices are typical for Western Washington. Daily specials, first-visit offers and loyalty points help, and so does buying larger packs.
Registered medical patients do better. Washington serves patients through medically endorsed retail stores, and nearly all of Olympia's qualify. A patient in the Department of Health database with a recognition card pays no sales tax, no excise tax on DOH-compliant products, and may buy up to three times the adult-use limit. Washington does not accept medical cards from other states. For a first visit, read our guides to finding the best dispensary and what to buy at a dispensary.

How we build this list: Store names, addresses and licence numbers come from the WSLCB's list of active cannabis retailers; medical endorsements come from the Department of Health; tribal stores, which are not in the state list, come from tribal and public sources. We refresh the data monthly. Featured placements are paid and clearly labelled.
