Where Orange Juice Comes From

Leafly credits Gage Green Genetics with Orange Juice. The old description on our site, and AllBud’s lineage line, both describe a three-way mix: Joseph (a Joseph OG selection) with a cross of California Orange and OG Kush. Our earlier text added that Joseph came from Underdog OG bag seed; we could not confirm that detail in a second source, so treat it as a grower story.

The name is also written Orange Juice Kush, OJ and OJ Kush. Leafly lists Orange Peel and Orange Kush Breath as offspring. Breeding dates are not documented in the sources we checked.

Orange Juice Effects: What It Feels Like

Orange Juice is described as balanced. AllBud talks of an energizing cerebral start that gives way to a mellow body high. Leafly’s reader tags are uplifted, relaxed, euphoric and happy, and its description pairs a relaxed body with an uplifted head.

That makes it a flexible strain for the later part of the day. People tend to use it for easy socializing, music or a relaxed evening. Both sources put THC at the moderate end, which suits people who want a noticeable but not overwhelming effect. AllBud thinks it is around 70% indica, but notes that breeders have not confirmed that split, so we call it indica-leaning at most.

Orange Juice Terpenes, Aroma and Flavor

This strain is named for its smell. Orange leads, followed by lemon and a diesel undertone from its OG side. Leafly adds earthy and sweet notes, and AllBud lists spicy and mint-like tones.

Limonene is the most abundant terpene on Leafly, followed by caryophyllene and myrcene. Limonene fits the citrus aroma, and caryophyllene adds a light pepper note. AllBud describes large, dense, spade-shaped buds that are light minty green with purple tones, orange hairs and white trichomes.

  • Limonene: bright citrus, also found in lemon and orange peel
  • Beta-caryophyllene: peppery and spicy, also found in black pepper and cloves
  • Myrcene: earthy, musky and herbal, also found in mango and hops

Terpene levels vary from grower to grower and batch to batch, so check the lab label on the package. Learn more in our guide to cannabis terpenes.

Side Effects and How to Use Orange Juice

Dry mouth, dry eyes and dizziness are the side effects people report most. As with any THC-rich strain, taking too much can lead to a racing mind or discomfort, so start low and give it time to take effect.

If you are new to Orange Juice, start with one small inhalation or 2.5 mg in an edible and wait before taking more; see our dosing guide.

Do People Use Orange Juice for Medical Reasons?

Leafly readers most often say they use Orange Juice for anxiety, depression and stress, and AllBud lists a similar set. These are user reports, not clinical evidence.
