Where Sherblato Comes From

Sherblato combines two of the best-known West Coast dessert strains. Leafly, SeedFinder and Weedmaps all agree on the parents: Sunset Sherbet, sometimes written Sherbert, and Gelato, with SeedFinder naming the Gelato #33 cut. Since Gelato was itself bred from Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint GSC, Sherblato is essentially Sherbet bred back into its own offspring, which helps explain its heavy sweet, fruity character.

The breeder is less clear. SeedFinder lists a Sherblato from Flavour Chasers in California, sold as feminized seed. A Weedmaps brand listing credits Foreign Genetics Inc., which says it found its Sherblato by hunting through dozens of phenotypes from Sunset Sherbet and Gelato parents. These may be separate selections of the same cross, so jars from different growers can vary.

Leafly notes that Sherblato’s wider ancestry includes Girl Scout Cookies, Durban Poison and OG Kush through the Cookies family, and it describes the strain as a favorite on the West Coast.

Sherblato Effects: What It Feels Like

Leafly reviewers most often describe Sherblato as tingly, hungry and relaxed, and Leafly sums up its effects as mostly calming. Its description adds a buzzy, tingly high that does not floor you for the rest of the day. SeedFinder describes a mainly physical effect that relaxes the muscles and raises the appetite, with some euphoria and creativity on top.

That makes it a good fit for evenings, a meal with friends or a slow weekend afternoon. With THC commonly in the low to mid 20s, newer consumers should start with a small amount and wait before taking more.

Sherblato Terpenes, Aroma and Flavor

Leafly’s reported flavors are apricot, chestnut and citrus, and its description calls the profile tart and citrusy with gassy, diesel-like notes. SeedFinder describes a very sweet, complex terpene profile, with candy, berry and citrus from the Sherbet side and sweetness, vanilla and mint from Gelato.

Leafly lists caryophyllene as the dominant terpene, followed by limonene and myrcene. Limonene lines up with the tart citrus, caryophyllene with the peppery, gassy edge, and myrcene with the soft, fruity base.

  • Beta-caryophyllene: peppery and spicy, also found in black pepper and cloves
  • Limonene: bright citrus, also found in lemon and orange peel
  • Myrcene: earthy, musky and herbal, also found in mango and hops

Terpene levels vary from grower to grower and batch to batch, so check the lab label on the package. Learn more in our guide to cannabis terpenes.

Side Effects and How to Use Sherblato

Leafly reviewers most often report headache, dry mouth and dry eyes, and SeedFinder mentions red eyes. Headaches tend to show up with heavier use, so drink water and keep the dose moderate.

With Sherblato, as with any strain, a smaller dose usually avoids anxiety or grogginess. Our cannabis safety guide covers what to do if you take too much.

Do People Use Sherblato for Medical Reasons?

Leafly readers most often say they reach for Sherblato during anxiety (20%), depression (11%) and pain (11%), and SeedFinder notes anecdotal use for stress and pain. These are personal reports, and SeedFinder itself points out that no studies have looked at the strain’s effects.

Growing Sherblato

  • Flowering: About 50–60 days
  • Yield: Up to about 550 g/m² indoors
  • Height: About 120 cm; around 60 cm with training in small pots
  • Environment: Indoor or outdoor

SeedFinder’s listing for the Flavour Chasers version describes a feminized, indica-shaped plant with broad leaves, short internodes and a bushy, low canopy. It finishes in about 50 to 60 days and can yield up to about 550 g/m² with strong light and feeding. Plants usually reach around 120 cm, or about 60 cm when trained in small pots. The buds are small, dense and resinous, so keep humidity down late in flower, especially in damp autumn climates.

Home-grow rules depend on the state: adults can grow at home in states such as California (six plants per residence), Michigan (12 per residence) and Oregon (four per household), while Washington and Illinois allow home growing only for registered medical patients.
