Dispensaries in Bradenton

Bradenton has 12 dispensaries licensed by the Florida Office of Medical Marijuana Use (OMMU), and they are the only ones in Manatee County. Florida is a medical-only state, so buyers must be registered patients with an active registry ID card, or their caregivers. If you are staying on Anna Maria Island, the mainland is where you shop: the island's cities voted to ban dispensaries in 2017, and our directory lists no store there today.

Holmes Beach and Anna Maria passed bans in 2017, FOX 13 reported, and The Islander covered Bradenton Beach's ban the same year. So every one of the county's 12 stores carries a Bradenton mailing address, from the Cortez Road strip near the bay to MÜV's store out east in the 34212 ZIP. A Bradenton address doesn't necessarily mean city limits; much of unincorporated Manatee County uses it too. Nine companies run the 12 stores, with Curaleaf, MÜV and Trulieve operating two each.

Visiting a Dispensary in Bradenton: ID, Payment and Hours

Bring your registry ID card and a valid photo ID; a Florida driver license alone will not get you served. The store verifies your registration and your physician's order in the state system each time. Each company sets its own payment rules, so check ahead rather than assuming a credit card works. Florida law closes every store counter from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Bradenton and Florida Cannabis Laws: Purchase Limits, Public Use and Driving

  • Keep it in the package. Patients and caregivers must keep marijuana in its original packaging, and may not carry more than a 70-day supply, or more than 4 ounces of smokable marijuana unless the OMMU approved more.
  • Carry the card. If police ask and you cannot show your registry card, that is a second-degree misdemeanor unless the registry confirms you.
  • On the island. Beaches, piers and the Coquina and Manatee public beaches are public places, where using medical marijuana is illegal. On a boat, smoking is outside protected medical use.
  • Driving. DUI law covers impairment by marijuana, and a card is no defense.
