St. Petersburg has 18 dispensaries licensed by the Florida Office of Medical Marijuana Use (OMMU). They are medical stores only: the buyer must be a registered Florida patient with an active registry ID card, or that patient's caregiver. Beach visitors with medical cards from home are turned away, because Florida does not recognize other states' programs. Six of the city's stores are on 4th Street North.
St. Pete packs a lot of choice into a compact grid. Fourteen companies operate the 18 stores, and the city has one of the few Florida locations of One Plant, alongside the bigger chains. Downtown, Central Avenue west of downtown and the long run of 4th Street North each have their own cluster, so most residents are a short drive from three or four different brands.

Visiting a Dispensary in St. Petersburg: Card, ID, Payment and Hours
Show your Florida registry card and a photo ID. Staff confirm your status in the registry and sell only the forms and amounts on your certification; if you were just approved, the OMMU email works until the card comes. Most stores take cash and debit. Florida bars in-store sales between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m., while delivery to patients may run at any hour.
St. Petersburg and Florida Cannabis Laws: Purchase Limits, Public Use and Driving
The ceiling is a 70-day supply per 70 days, and smokable flower stops at 2.5 ounces per 35 days unless the OMMU approves an exception. At home or on the go you may hold a 70-day supply, or 4 ounces of flower, in its original packaging.
- Beaches and the waterfront: The Gulf beaches and waterfront parks are public places, where patient use is not protected.
- Boats: Medical use in a motorboat is excluded by state law, so a day on Tampa Bay is not the place.
- Rentals: Owners may ban smoking or vaping on their property.
- Driving: Impaired driving is DUI, card or no card.
