Fort Myers has 13 dispensaries licensed by the Florida Office of Medical Marijuana Use (OMMU). Like every Florida store, they sell only to registered patients holding an active state registry ID card, and to their caregivers. One detail confuses newcomers: the city council voted to ban new dispensaries inside city limits, yet a Fort Myers mailing address reaches well beyond the city limits into unincorporated Lee County, so a store with a Fort Myers address is not necessarily inside the city.
Fox 4 reported that Fort Myers and the neighboring village of Estero both passed dispensary bans, and that a Curaleaf store already open in the city was not affected. Today most of the stores sit along the main roads south and east of downtown: Cleveland Avenue, Summerlin Road, Daniels Parkway and Colonial Boulevard. Unlike Cape Coral across the river, where no company repeats, Fort Myers has three MÜV stores and two each from Ayr and Trulieve, so a patient loyal to one brand often has a choice of locations.

Visiting a Dispensary in Fort Myers: ID, Payment and Hours
Have your Florida Medical Marijuana Use Registry card and a government photo ID ready. Staff confirm your registration and your physician's certification in the state system before every sale, and they can sell only the forms and amounts that order allows. Payment methods vary by company, and cannabis stores rarely take credit cards, so check before you go. No store may dispense between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m.
That rule covers counters, not cars. Treatment centers may deliver to registered patients 24 hours a day.
Fort Myers and Florida Cannabis Laws: Purchase Limits, Public Use and Driving
Per 70-day period a store may dispense no more than a 70-day supply, and per 35-day period no more than one 35-day supply of smokable flower, which may not exceed 2.5 ounces without an OMMU exception. Smoking in a park, at a riverfront event or on a beach is public use and a misdemeanor. Being impaired behind the wheel is DUI. Read our Florida marijuana laws guide or the national cannabis laws hub.
Cannabis Taxes in Fort Myers
There are none on the receipt. Section 212.08 of the Florida Statutes exempts medical marijuana and delivery devices from sales and use tax. Treatment centers must publish their prices online, including a 30, 50 and 70-day supply at a standard dose, which makes comparing Fort Myers' nine companies easier. See our 2026 prices by state.
