Dispensaries in Lewiston

Lewiston has 26 dispensaries licensed by the Maine Office of Cannabis Policy (OCP). Adults 21 and older with a valid photo ID, residents or visitors, can buy at the city's adult-use stores. Most Lewiston stores, though, are medical: 18 serve certified patients only, a far higher share than in Portland. Add Auburn across the Androscoggin River and the twin cities have 48 stores between them, more than Portland on its own.

That medical tilt is the first thing to understand about shopping in Lewiston. Only 8 of the 26 stores on our list sell to any adult 21 or older; the other 18 are registered medical dispensaries or caregiver storefronts. If you have no medical certification, check that a store is adult-use before you drive over. If you do, Lewiston gives you more medical choice than almost anywhere in the state.

Adult-use purchases carry Maine's 14% sales tax, up from 10% since January 1, 2026. Growers pay a cultivation excise that is folded into shelf prices. We found no separate Lewiston cannabis tax, and your receipt shows the tax charged. Certified patients buying for medical use skip the 14% rate, one reason Lewiston's many medical stores draw patients from around Androscoggin County. See cannabis prices by state for how Maine compares.
