Irvington has 4 dispensaries licensed by the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission (CRC), all in one ZIP code. Shoppers need to be 21 and show a valid government ID; visitors from outside New Jersey can buy too. Irvington has no medical dispensary, so patients use stores in nearby towns. The township's stores keep shorter hours than most, with the ones that post hours closing at 8 p.m.
Irvington is a compact township on Newark's western edge, and its dispensaries reflect that: every store is in the 07111 ZIP code, on Springfield Avenue or Clinton Avenue, and the two Springfield Avenue shops are close enough to visit in one stop. What sets Irvington apart is the clock. If you need a store after 8 p.m., you will have to head into Newark or another neighbor, so this is a market for daytime and early evening shopping.

Irvington and New Jersey Cannabis Laws: Purchase Limits, Public Use and Driving
A single Irvington purchase can include up to 1 ounce of flower or the same amount in other forms: 4 grams of concentrate, 4 grams of vape oil or 1,000 mg of edibles. Adults face no penalty for having 6 ounces or less. New Jersey does not allow home cultivation.
- Public use: Irvington Park and the sidewalks of Springfield Avenue are public, and so is every place where tobacco smoking is banned, so cannabis smoking and vaping are not allowed there.
- At home: Private property is fine with the owner's consent, but landlords and apartment buildings may ban smoking.
- Driving: Driving while impaired by cannabis is a DUI in New Jersey, and passengers may not smoke while the car is moving.
