San Juan has 51 dispensaries licensed by the Medical Cannabis Regulatory Board (JRCM). Every one of them is a medical dispensary, because Puerto Rico has no recreational market. To buy, you need a patient ID card from the Board, or a current medical card from a U.S. state or territory that Puerto Rico can verify, which is honored for up to 30 days, plus a photo ID. San Juan has more licensed stores than any other municipio, about one in five on the island.
The capital's stores follow its busiest avenues rather than its tourist postcards. Only three sit in Old San Juan and Puerta de Tierra, where the cruise ships dock. The rest line Calle Loíza in Santurce, the Roosevelt and Muñoz Rivera avenues in Hato Rey, Avenida 65 de Infantería in Río Piedras, and the PR-1 corridor toward Cupey. The sign out front often shows a brand rather than the company name we list, so go by the address.

How we build this list: Each San Juan store holds a dispensary license in the Medical Cannabis Regulatory Board's October 2026 directory of licensed establishments, which lists companies rather than trade names, so we name stores by company and municipio. Ratings and review counts come from public Google Maps data where a store has them, and we update monthly as licenses change. See the full rules in our state-by-state cannabis law guides.
