Where John Connor Comes From

John Connor is a Team Elite Genetics release. The family-run Orange County grower crossed its own Styrofoam Cup #2 selection with Sh3rb3t, and both Leafly and the breeder’s product listing give that same pairing. Leafly reports that the strain first appeared on California shelves in January 2025 and included it in its list of 12 hot strains to smoke that year, calling it an underdog among bigger-name releases.

The Styrofoam Cup side has a well-documented background. Styrofoam Cup is Team Elite’s selection from Cannarado’s MSG seeds, a cross of GMO Cookies and Sunset Sherbet, and it placed in indica categories at the Southern California Cannabis Cup in 2022 and 2023. The Sh3rb3t parent is less documented: we found no breeder notes on that cut beyond the name itself. Team Elite also sells a strain called Sarah Connor.

Because John Connor is new and largely sold as Team Elite flower and rosin, there is little independent lab or grow data yet. THC has not been published in the sources we checked.

John Connor Effects: What It Feels Like

Team Elite markets John Connor as full indica, and its listing describes a heavy, body-numbing high that encourages deep relaxation and stillness, aimed at unwinding after a long day or getting ready for bed. Leafly’s write-up agrees, calling it a potent indica whose effects tranquilize and comfort.

Expect it to settle in through the body more than the head. A small amount takes the edge off an evening, while a larger one is likely to end on the couch. Since potency numbers are not public yet and both parents come from strong families, start with a small dose and wait before taking more.

John Connor Terpenes, Aroma and Flavor

Leafly describes the flavor as sour and petrol-like, with hints of coffee and sweet cream, and says the buds smell respectably loud. Team Elite’s own tasting notes are more dessert-forward: frozen gelato, jasmine tea and coffee cake, finishing with a touch of peppermint candy cane and a light mint aftertaste.

The breeder’s listing names myrcene, pinene and limonene as the dominant terpenes. Myrcene supports the heavy, relaxing feel, pinene adds a fresh, slightly minty lift, and limonene contributes the sweeter citrus side of the profile.

  • Myrcene: earthy, musky and herbal, also found in mango and hops
  • Pinene: fresh pine, also found in pine needles and rosemary
  • Limonene: bright citrus, also found in lemon and orange peel

Terpene levels vary from grower to grower and batch to batch, so check the lab label on the package. Learn more in our guide to cannabis terpenes.

Side Effects and How to Use John Connor

There is little reviewer data yet. Given the heavy, sedating effect the breeder and Leafly describe, the main things to expect are drowsiness and couch-lock at larger doses, along with the dry mouth common to most strains. Avoid it before anything that needs focus or driving.

If you are new to John Connor, start with one small inhalation or 2.5 mg in an edible and wait before taking more; see our dosing guide.
