The conservative political party currently in power in Holland is pushing for a halt to marijuana tourism in the nation. The Dutch Cabinet’s current plan is to make residents obtain a card which would allow them to obtain cannabis from any of the local café’s that are in business.
Prime Minister Mark Rutte wants to roll out the plan in the southern part of the nation first, where cannabis tourism is very popular among the Germans and the French. He plans to move on to the famed Amsterdam coffee shops later in his term.
The Justice Ministry spokesman Wim van der Weegen stated that the Supreme Court has still not decided whether or not they can block foreigners completely.
This new plan would forces café’s to only give out 1500 permits in all, and they would have to choose whether to give them to their regular customers or to tourists.
