The voter approved Compassionate Use Law, which allows Massachusetts to register up to 35 non-profit medical marijuana dispensaries throughout the state in the first year,  has moved on to “Phase 2″.

Of the original eight applications to become approved medical marijuana providers in Barnstable County, five groups have been selected to move on in the state approval process.  The Massachusetts Department of Health has “invited” the businesses listed below:

  • The William Noyes Webster Foundation, Inc.
  • Planning Hope, Inc.
  • Kingsbury Group, Inc
  • East Coast Wellness Center, Inc.
  • JCS Holdings, Inc.

Next up is a $30,000 non-refundable fee for each approved submission.  State officials have an informational meeting with the applicants planned for October 10.

Dispensary Fees:

  • Agent Registration: $500, annually
  • Phase 1 Application: $1,500
  • Phase 2 Application: $30,000
  • Registration: $50,000, annually
  • Architectural review: $8.25 per $1,000 of construction costs, with a minimum fee of $1,500
