Where OMFG Comes From
Leafly credits Exotic Genetix as the breeder. Its listed parents are Chemdawg and Fog Dog, but the description says Runtz crossed with Red Pop, and AllBud also says Red Pop and Runtz. Sources conflict, so the lineage is unconfirmed.
Leafly lists Strawberry Sugar and Sour Pop as offspring.
The name is an exclamation, and the strain is part of the modern wave of dessert-style, candy-fruit hybrids that lean on bag appeal: very dark purple flowers with green accents and heavy frost. Exotic Genetix is the only breeder credited by the sources I found, and neither source gives a release date. If you are comparing jars, the lab label matters more than the name, because a name this popular is often used loosely.
OMFG Effects: What It Feels Like
Leafly calls the effects mostly calming, with relaxed, happy and uplifted reports. AllBud adds giggly, hungry and relaxing. Heady laughter followed by physical relaxation is the common description.
With THC reportedly near 30%, it is strong, and AllBud suggests experienced users.
Because of the high THC, the safest approach is a single small puff and a wait of ten or fifteen minutes. People who are new to cannabis, or who are sensitive to THC, may find it too strong, and the sleepy body feel can arrive suddenly.
OMFG Terpenes, Aroma and Flavor
Sour citrus, spicy cherry and tropical fruit on the nose. Flavor: strawberry, pineapple and blueberry (Leafly) or sweet-sour citrus with black cherry (AllBud). Leafly lists myrcene and caryophyllene as dominant terpenes.
The buds are very dark violet with green accents.
- Myrcene: earthy, musky and herbal, also found in mango and hops
- Beta-caryophyllene: peppery and spicy, also found in black pepper and cloves
Terpene levels vary from grower to grower and batch to batch, so check the lab label on the package. Learn more in our guide to cannabis terpenes.
Side Effects and How to Use OMFG
Dry mouth, dry eyes and dizziness are reported. Because of the high potency, start with a small amount.
How strong OMFG feels depends on the batch, your tolerance and how you consume it. Start low, go slow, and read our guide to dosing cannabis.
Do People Use OMFG for Medical Reasons?
Leafly readers cite stress, depression and anxiety; AllBud lists insomnia and multiple sclerosis. This is user-reported and not medical advice.
