Gelatti is a hybrid cannabis strain bred from Gelato and Biscotti, known for a gassy, minty nose and a relaxed, giggly high. It is an in-house Cookies cultivar from California that was never released as seeds or clones, which kept it rare outside the Cookies network. Leafly lists it at about 19% THC, and SeedFinder notes it often tests around 20% or higher.

Where Gelatti Comes From

Gelatti comes from Cookies, the California brand behind Gelato and Girl Scout Cookies. Leafly and SeedFinder both list it as a cross of Gelato and Biscotti, and Leafly adds that Cookies used an unreleased Gelato cut and an OG Biscotti cut. Biscotti is itself a Gelato family plant, usually traced to Gelato #25 and a South Florida OG, so Gelatti leans heavily on the same dessert-and-gas line that made Cookies famous.

The strain was kept in house. SeedFinder states that the original Cookies Gelatti has never been sold as feminized seeds or clones, and Leafly describes it as hard to find outside California. Other seed companies sell their own Gelatti-named crosses, so a seed pack with this name may not match the Cookies cut.

Gelatti has still become an important breeding parent. Leafly names Apples and Bananas among its offspring, and our own profiles of Fish Scale, Georgia Pie and Zawtz all list Gelatti in their lineage. SeedFinder counts more than 30 direct descendants.

Gelatti Effects: What It Feels Like

Leafly reviewers most often describe Gelatti as relaxed, creative and giggly, and Leafly sums up its effects as mostly calming. SeedFinder users describe an uplifting head change that eases body tension, with calming and appetizing tags on its chart. The usual pattern is a light, happy lift early on that settles into a loose, comfortable body feel.

That balance makes it a good fit for late afternoon or evening, social time or a quiet night in. Leafly rates it higher in THC than average, so people with a low tolerance should start with a small amount and wait 10 to 15 minutes before taking more.

Gelatti Terpenes, Aroma and Flavor

Cookies describes the aroma as gassy OG and strong menthol with a slight Gelato finish. SeedFinder adds OG musk, sweet fruit and citrus notes, and describes the smoke as fresh menthol with floral undertones and light fuel. Leafly’s top reported flavors are apple, pepper and flowery, and its description mentions a thick taste and a heavy, gas-like exhale.

Leafly and SeedFinder both list caryophyllene as the dominant terpene, followed by limonene and linalool. Caryophyllene is often linked to the peppery bite, limonene to the citrus and fruit, and linalool to the floral side.

  • Beta-caryophyllene: peppery and spicy, also found in black pepper and cloves
  • Limonene: bright citrus, also found in lemon and orange peel
  • Linalool: floral and lavender-like

Terpene levels vary from grower to grower and batch to batch, so check the lab label on the package. Learn more in our guide to cannabis terpenes.

Side Effects and How to Use Gelatti

Leafly reviewers list anxiety, headache and dry mouth as the most common complaints, and SeedFinder adds dry eyes and dizziness. Anxiety and headaches usually show up when people take more than they need of a potent hybrid, so pace yourself, drink water and avoid mixing it with alcohol.

If you are new to Gelatti, start with one small inhalation or 2.5 mg in an edible and wait before taking more; see our dosing guide.

Do People Use Gelatti for Medical Reasons?

Leafly readers most often say they reach for Gelatti during anxiety (23%), depression (20%) and stress (19%). These are personal reports, not clinical evidence, and since anxiety also appears among its reported side effects, people prone to it should start low.
